Swan Lake is up at the theater next door to ours, and I often see the dancers in the Starbucks. Yesterday I talked to some of them about Tiger Lily's accident.

What did they say?
Broken collarbone disfigures an actresses neckline for life, right? Who's her lawyer and are they any good?
Where are the "guys" who were supposed to catch her, and will they be missed if we beat them into a bloody mass? We'll get Yuri and Bathazar to tie them up with legwarmers, and we'll whip them to death with our unitards.
Can we see the director now about taking over the part? I've got to get out of this chicken outfit . . .
- you know, I just glanced at this picture again, and noticed that they have the exact same chairs in the Starbucks at Bradshaw and Old Placerville Road over here in Rancho Cordova . . . I can only imagine the cast of Swan Lake in that particular location - wait! wait!
. . . if someone is in a Starbucks, and all Starbucks are the same (come to think of it, they had EXACTLY THE SAME FURNITURE in the Starbucks on the corner of Fauntleroy and California!), then if one person steps into a Starbucks, it's as if all the people in one location were in the exact same location! Unknown hundreds of people are standing next to the exact same furniture ALL OVER THE PLANET. We are All in the SAME Place! Doing the SAME THING! Listening to the SAME Starbucks CD's! Waiting for the SAME BURNT COFFEE! REBELLING BY GETTING "just drip"! SPLURGING on WHIP CREAM! ORDERING an AMERICANO with STEAMED MILK! Seeing THE SAME GREEN APRONS WHAPPING THE SAME PORTAFILTERS INTO THE SAME KNOCKBOXES - OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND
. . . whoa, a corporate vision of inhuman uniformity is filling my mind, blotting out all other organizational systems, all natural variations, physical discrepencies of geography and custom, differences of all kinds, all driven by a human demand for caffene necessary to cope with the pressures of a working life focussed on creating measurable repeatable uniform brand supporting product.
I'm going to shrink myself to the size of a pin and go hug a blade of grass.
